AIDS United’s CEO mourns the passing of Larry Kramer

Following the death of Larry Kramer, longtime HIV/AIDS activist and Tony Award-winning playwright, Jesse Milan Jr., president and CEO of AIDS United, released the following statement:

“The HIV community lost one of its giants. His anger and outrage put a spotlight on the epidemic when the world refused to acknowledge that so many of us were dying. His words inspired a generation impacted by HIV to join the fight to end the silence and stigma about AIDS. Put simply, the HIV movement might never have ignited without the powerful fuel he provided. We send our condolences to his husband, David Webster, and to all who knew and were impacted by his life and work. His spirit endures in all of us, as we work to fight for all those living with or affected by HIV and to end the epidemic. May he rest in peace.”
