Let’s talk visibility in HIV and LGBTQ spaces this #BiWeek

Join us this Thursday at 6 p.m. EDT for a discussion with our partners at the National LGBTQ Task Force to mark Bisexual+ Awareness Week.

Task Force Executive Director, Kierra Johnson will moderate a panel discussion in conversation with Khafre Kujichaqulia Abif, Dr. Lauren Beach, Gina Brown and H. “Herukhuti” Sharif Williams, Ph.D. MEd, centering on the theme of utilizing bi+ visibility to make change in health and LGBTQ movement spaces.

Bi+ people make up more than half of the LGBTQ community, but they receive less than 1% of all LGBTQ-specific funding.

Yet research consistently shows that the bi+ community faces higher physical, mental and social health disparities — if the research is disaggregated at all. This must change.

Our work to #StopHIVTogether depends on the inclusion of all in our community, centering their unique needs and meeting them where they are. We cannot know how to reach folks with HIV testing, prevention and treatment strategies if we are not visibly and intentionally including them from the foundations of our work.

And it starts with conversations like this. We hope to see you there.
