Interim President & CEO Of AIDS United To Deliver Keynote At National Trans Health Conference

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – The National Trans Health Conference Host Committee is pleased to announce and welcome Jesse Milan Jr., JD, interim president and CEO of AIDS United as a keynote speaker of the 4th annual conference. The event, taking place in Atlanta, Georgia November 17 – 19, is themed “We are NOT Invisible, TRANS Lives Matter.”

Mr. Milan is a nationally recognized expert on HIV/AIDS policies and programs and a tireless community advocate. A lawyer by background, he served a five-year appointment as co-chair of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Advisory Committee on HIV and STD Prevention and Treatment (CHAC), was designated a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Global HIV/AIDS and served as AIDS Director for Philadelphia. He is chair emeritus of the Black AIDS Institute and serves on the PEPFAR Scientific Advisory Board. Milan has directed national and regional programs across the HIV prevention, treatment and care spectrum, and has addressed millions across the U.S. and Africa. Milan became the Interim President & CEO of AIDS United, a national HIV/AIDS grantmaking, capacity building and policy and advocacy organization, in June 2016.

Milan’s keynote, “Leadership for Getting to 100 Percent: Our Goals Must Include the Trans Community,” will address the need for including and developing new leaders and leadership opportunities for the Transgender Community to meet the National HIV/AIDS Strategy and the Global UNIAIDS goal of improving health outcomes for people living with HIV by the year 2020. Elevating Trans Community leaders and building leadership alliances across sectors is critical to ensuring Trans people are not left out or left behind. Milan is a leadership development consultant with the Dorrier Underwood firm. Milan’s address will ask critical questions, offer solutions and suggest programmatic and advocacy approaches that can advance the lives and leadership of people living with HIV/AIDS, the LGBTQ, and Transgender communities.

The National Trans Health Conference was created to provide for a meeting of minds, the appreciation for different perspectives and to affirm the commonalities between and for the Transgender community. By convening all pertinent stakeholders to have provocative dialogue, providers can continually improve, find solutions and further enhance safe places, access to care and most importantly ensure that equality without bias is the order of the day for the Transgender populace.
