AIDS United remains steadfast in our mission to end the HIV epidemic in the United States. Our country has new presidential-issued policy changes that restrict federal support for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives and redefine gender classifications. These shifts threaten to exacerbate inequities and undermine the essential progress made toward supporting the health and well-being of communities disproportionately impacted by HIV.
At the heart of AIDS United’s work is our unwavering commitment to people living with HIV, undergirded by our unrelenting focus on advancing racial justice and gender equity. We honor their resilience, amplify their voices, and prioritize their leadership in shaping solutions that address their needs. People living with HIV are the foundation of our fight to end the epidemic, and their health, dignity, and access to care remain our highest priorities.
Our work also centers on comprehensive HIV prevention for all people vulnerable to HIV. Prevention efforts must address the full spectrum of needs for marginalized communities, including access to PrEP, HIV testing, harm reduction services, and social supports that tackle the root causes of health inequities. We remain resolute in our efforts to ensure that prevention strategies are equitable, inclusive, and rooted in the lived experiences of people of all races, orientations, and identities.
AIDS United will continue to collaborate with partners, advocates, and policymakers to advance evidence-based solutions that ensure equitable access to care and prevention. Together, we can confront these challenges and reaffirm our collective commitment to supporting people living with and vulnerable to HIV, dismantling systemic inequities, and achieving a future free from HIV.
We call on all stakeholders to join us in advancing policies that prioritize health equity, respect for all identities, and unwavering support for people living with and vulnerable to HIV. The fight to end the HIV epidemic requires unity, compassion, and determination— and we will not waver in this pursuit.
