AIDS United premieres “Progress and Promise” Fireside Chat Featuring Dr. Laura Cheever

 

December 19, 2024, Washington, D.C. – AIDS United is proud to release the premiere of their year-end conversation, “Progress and Promise: Honoring Dr. Laura Cheever and the Legacy of the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program,” a fireside chat with Dr. Laura Cheever, Associate Administrator of the HIV/AIDS Bureau at HRSA and Jesse Milan Jr., President and CEO of AIDS United. In her role, Dr. Cheever directs the $2.5 Billion Ryan White Program for the nation.

In this fireside chat, Laura and Jesse discuss groundbreaking strides made in the Ryan White Program under Dr. Cheever’s tenure as she retires from her role at the end of this year. In addition, the two will outline the pivotal role the Ryan White program will continue playing to strengthen viral suppression rates and address gaps in HIV care, in support of the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S. (EHE) initiative

On Monday, December 16, 2024, at her retirement celebration, AIDS United President and CEO Jesse Milan Jr. presented Dr. Laura Cheever with a special award honoring her for her “Outstanding Service to the HIV community in the United States” as the leader of the Ryan White Program. 

Dr. Cheever will share her reflections on the evolving landscape of HIV care, including the successes and ongoing challenges of marginalized communities, and the vital need for continued investment and leadership to end the HIV epidemic.
