Stand With Us This World AIDS Day

Each year on December 1, we recognize World AIDS Day — a moment for our community to honor the lives lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic and recommit ourselves to ending the epidemic once and for all. This year, against the backdrop of the federal government’s silence, loudly recognizing World AIDS Day is more important than any time in the last three decades.

This year’s theme, “Overcoming disruption, transforming the AIDS response,” reflects exactly what this moment demands of us. Over the past year, we have faced disruptions and attacks on multiple fronts. Funding has been cut on both the global and domestic level, resulting in disruptions to care for people living with HIV. It has been a difficult year, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

But through every challenge, our community has shown resilience and strength. When our progress was threatened, you rose to the moment. Together, we sent more than 13,000 letters to Congress, making it clear that we will not allow HIV programs — or the people they serve — to be pushed aside. During AIDSWatch 2025, over 600 advocates came together in Washington, DC, to advocate for policies, programs, and funding to end the HIV epidemic. Over the past year, AIDS United staff, alongside community advocates, have led more than 300 meetings with members of Congress.

Today, we find ourselves at another critical point. Federal and global HIV funding remains at risk, and the transformation of the HIV response depends on our collective advocacy. Lives, services, and decades of hard-won progress are on the line.

AIDS United continues to stand at the forefront of the domestic HIV response, working every day to protect essential funding, advance equity, and move us closer to ending the epidemic.

But we cannot do this work without you.

On this World AIDS Day — a day of remembrance, resilience, and renewed resolve — we hope you will stand with us once again.

Make your voice heard and take action by reaching out to your members of Congress to ensure no HIV funding cuts occur.

For those wanting to take further action, please consider making a donation today to sustain our mission and strengthen the fight to end the HIV epidemic. Your support ensures we can continue advocating, organizing, and protecting the programs our communities rely on.
